BOSTON – State Senator Nick Collins is calling for improved transparency at the MBTA in light of a report that found delays with the refurbishment of trolleys on the Mattapan High-Speed Line.
“The Mattapan Line provides transportation to one of Boston’s most transit-dependent communities. It is essential that this project moves forward in a timely manner,” said Senator Collins. “The MBTA must adhere to schedules to keep the system moving efficiently, so I have filed legislation to ensure that delays are reported and that there is full transparency on all capital projects.”
“Particularly in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the investments we make in the refurbishment of the Mattapan Line are critical now more than ever. The Mattapan Line is a critical link between our essential workers and their employment. Therefore, I am a proud co-sponsor of the amendment filed by Sen. Collins to the FY2022 budget,” said State Senator Walter F. Timilty (D-Milton).
The amendment will be debated next week during the State Senate’s annual budget debate.
